Au cœur de ce huis clos inquiétant, Amélie Nothomb retrouve ses thèmes de prédilection : l’amour absolu et ses illusions, la passion indissociable de la perversité.
*** Book in French language ! ***Assez bon état (un peu marqué aux coiffes), in12 broché, n°14911 , Auteur : NOTHOMB, Amélie , Titre : Mercure , couverture souple, format poche , éditions : Le livre de poche de 2000
I thought about this book long after I finished it. The alternate ending made me wonder which one I prefer most. Nothomb's writing is poignant, and at times a little creepy - but that's what makes her charm. I would say it's one of her best ones.
Another very good book from Amelie Nothomb on the theme of beauty (or the lack of it) with great dialogues.

A good and quick reading.
Excellent tale about love and selfishness, beauty and distortedness...

The answer is simply because Nothomb publishes a new book every year on this month. The waiting period before the new book's release often brings back old memories and new discussions, and this is how I was lucky to meet two Nothombophiles just like me (Ok maybe not exactly like me, but still, the point is that they love

this is the second book, after antichrista, by nothomb that i read and now i'm sure she's not my fave author. the plot in mercure is very promising but the story is very naively told, in an old-fashioned way, the characters really annoyed me except for the nurse. if i were her i definitely would have killed those two morons :))I thought about this book long after I finished it. The alternate ending made me wonder which one I prefer most. Nothomb's writing is poignant, and at times a little creepy - but that's what makes her charm. I would say it's one of her best ones.
