Enjoyed this one. (I forgot to put it on goodreads.) It was a quick read for me because I realized I had read it before many moons ago. It was good enough to read a second time so I did. It is a clever story and I think re-reading books like this are a bit more fun when you are a writer and the second time through you look for things that you don't when you are reading for enjoyment. I learned a lot reading this time because I wasn't needing to figure out whodunnit, but I was able to see some ofI loved all the intrinsic events taking place and the family bond the Hale family has. I loved the mystery and drama in this book. I literally stayed up all night reading this one.In 1985 Baltimore Catarina "Renna" Hale was attacked by her neighbor twelve year old Joey Pastorelli and would have been raped if the neighbors didn't intervene. This was a reread for me, and I think I liked it even more the second time. Obviously the suspense was muted, but I was surprised at how many details I had forgotten about the fires and deaths. This time I was able to concentrate more on the emotions and interactions of the characters, and this was simply wonderful!
