ENDYMION

Two hundred and seventy-four years after the fall of the WorldWeb in Fall of Hyperion, Raoul Endymion is sent on a quest. Retrieving Aenea from the Sphinx before the Church troops reach her is only the beginning. With help from a blue-skinned android named A. Bettik, Raoul and Aenea travel the river Tethys, pursued by Father Captain Frederico DeSoya, an influential warrior-priest and his troops. The shrike continues to make enigmatic appearances, and while many questions were raised in Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion, still more are raised here. Raoul's quest will continue.

THE RISE OF ENDYMION

The time of reckoning has arrived. As a final genocidal Crusade threatens to enslave humanity forever, a new messiah has come of age. She is Aenea and she has undergone a strange apprenticeship to those known as the Others. Now her protector, Raul Endymion, one-time shepherd and convicted murderer, must help her deliver her startling message to her growing army of disciples.

But first they must embark on a final spectacular mission to discover the underlying meaning of the universe itself. They have been followed on their journey by the mysterious Shrike--monster, angel, killing machine--who is about to reveal the long-held secret of its origin and purpose. And on the planet of Hyperion, where the story first began, the final revelation will be delivered--an apocalyptic message that unlocks the secrets of existence and the fate of humankind in the galaxy.

Comment On Appertaining To Books The Endymion Omnibus (Hyperion Cantos #3-4)
Имам нужда да знам повече. Искам да разбера, какво се е случило нататък, как са се провели дозина битки, какво е станало с доста герои. Ако поредицата имаше още 1000 страници, то щях да ги прочета без да се замислям...

6 stars

After six years since the completion of the Hyperion duology that marked it as one of the greatest literary achievements of science fiction, gaining quickly the admiration of readers and critics alike, and becoming a masterpiece of its own right, Dan Simmons returns in The Endymion Omnibus, the second volume of Hyperion Cantos collecting the next two novels: Endymion and The Rise of Endymion, back to the universe of his award-winning series, traveling us in a two-legged story of Jesuits and

Mind-blowing as parts 1-2, maybe a little slower and convoluted but a 4.5 nonetheless.

The worst thing that can happen to a story is that it stops being a story and turns into preaching. This is what happens in this novel right there in the last 200-300 pages. It is a death blow to all the wonderful things that have set the stage for a great ending.Even if we were to accept this concept of the Void Which Binds and love being the energy behind all forces of the universe, the actual ending just isn't satisfactory. The advertised potential of this Void is virtually limitless, yet

Brilliant, has more history than the first two books but Dan handles it brilliantly, love this writer. And ending to make u think and enough sci fi concepts to keep u interested. Cant recommend this enough, possibly in my top 5 books ever :p
