Ilustration In Pursuance Of Books Incendies (Le Sang des Promesses #2)

There are stories that make you laugh, stories that make you cry, others that make you think... But this one makes you shut up for a long while just like Nawal, the main character. "Incendies" is a mystery story that is brief but yet long, subtle but straightforward. Its style is incomparable and its content is even better: it summons Oedipus to Lebanon's civil war where his guilt becomes greater than before. I loved how the past is synchronised with the present through retrospection and how the
literally just put the book down.... wow. this just messed me up in twenty different ways, the plot twists blew my mind and the writing style is so cool. I love how the stories intertwine and how "ghosts" appears in different scenes. I'm so glad we had to read this for school because I would never have picked it up otherwise. 10/10 would recommend

I was shocked by this play. I don't want to give anything away but I will say, WOW. This is a play about discovering the truth behind the silence, and family bonds are tested. It was a great read and I would love to see this performed.
If I had written my review straight after reading and discussing this play, I think I would have given it five stars and gushed my way through a superlative laden review, but it's been two months since I put it down, and my love for Incendies (translated into the English -- the way I read it -- as Scorched) has cooled to mere liking.I was initially blown away by what I took to be an uncompromising story about memory, violence and survival, and it remains all of those things, but the more I
reread 2019: absolutely chilling. ------------Has to be one of my favourite reads for school this year. Incredibly done.
I had meant to experience Incendies in a specified order: by reading Incendies in its original French, then its English translation (Scorched), then by watching the film. So far I seem to be accomplishing this in reverse. That said, I love this terribly beautiful story. I will submit a more complete review once I've read the original. Update: I've now read the original French version, but I'm far too lazy to write a more complete review (since in my laziness I know I wouldn't be able to do the
