OKAY, THIS BOOK WAS REALLY GOOD. first off, I had no idea what this was supposed to be a retelling of?? I THOUGHT I had figured out that it was the Princess and the Pea but then now I realize I was wrong (Plus, I didn't do such a great job remembering that fairytale). Anyway, now I know it was supposed to be Sleeping Beauty. It's been a while since I read that fairytale, so this doesn't have as many parallels as I thought. I don't know. I'm rambling. This was good. That is all. I enjoyed it.At first it seemed to bounce around but then it started to flow much better. It has your typical romantic ending. I did start to guess some of the plot line but not all of it was predictable which is nice. I particularly like the attention to detail that the author took to the medieval ages and making the book as historically accurate as she could. It's always a good sign when it's hard to put a book down because you just have to know what is next.
My book! It releases in September with Zondervan, a YA romance loosely based on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Check it out!!!

3.5 stars -- I enjoyed this book from Melanie Dickerson. Fun and fresh play on a classic fairy tale, though I was itching to edit some sections (it's hard for a writer to make me forget my editorial bent). I look forward to watching Melanie develop as a writer; she has a solid start here. Recommended for the 12 and up Christian YA reading crowd.
I enjoyed this book a lot!!!! It was a great book! There was a hint of mystery to it, too! It also made me laugh out loud at some points. Didn't really like the couple of suggestive scenes and stuff.. but it had a lot of scripture and talking to God in it! Can't wait to read more by Melanie Dickerson!
So many inaccuracies! RTC. It will be rather ranty.
2018 ReviewThese are the most charismatic Medieval Roman Catholics you will ever meet. Also, can we talk for a moment about Frau Geruscha's plan? (view spoiler)[Hide the Duke's daughter and watch her grow up? Good plan. Don't tell anyone who she is but secretly teach her to read and write and dance? So far on board. I mean, kind of risky having her raised by peasants, not sure her future fiance will love having a wife who doesn't know how to be a lady, but blood will tell. And it seems to work
